SDG 12 : Responsible Production and Consumption
We want to make products and at the same time we would love to participate in the SDGs! The starting point was of course to make good things. The challenge however was figuring out a process that addresses global issues.
Specifically, upcycling old fabrics, etc.
We chose not to produce if that was not possible.
If this was not possible, we chose not to produce the product.
As a result, we have been able to create something completely new, something that has never existed before,
through something old and traditional.
In addition, we have a sister brand called odds and ends (with links), which reincarnates fragments of laces that come out during the production process, or laces in good condition that could not be used as shoelaces for various reasons, into better laces.
Reducing waste in this way is a significant contribution to the SDG’s.
This is one of the most important things we can do.
SDG 8 : Decent work and economic growth.
Together with our business partners we were able to contribute to SDG 8.
We ask our products to be packaged by "Day Work Center Comicomi" a local Type B facility for daily life training and support for continuous employment in Munakata City.
Since we are not very good at packaging work, we were looking to outsource it. Fortunately recently the Day Work Center Comicomi center opened in my neighbourhood.
I was particularly impressed by the fact that, apart from providing training through a variety of different types of work, they were also looking to support the income of the people who work there. In addition, many of them are good at monotonous work which requires concentration.
We felt that they would be able to cover our weaknesses. Needless to say, it had to be a mutually beneficial relationship. At the end it turned out to be a real win-win situation for both of us.

And for those of you who are interested in our products or "I liked it so much that I picked it up or that they were inspired to think about it.
We want to be a brand that can help and support people in this way.
shoeface is based in SDGs future city and a world heritage city, Munakata city. In this respect, I feel that it is important to "feel familiar" with the SDGs, and this is what I am trying to do.
It is very important to continue this.
Therefore, it has to stay within reasonable range.
